We are pleased to announce that Mertxe Alonso has joined PlantResponse™ in the new role of Intellectual Property (IP) and Project Manager.
Mertxe received her degree in Agronomic Engineering from the Universidad Pública de Navarra (UPNA), and later gained a European PhD in Biological Sciences from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), Department of Genetics. In 2004, she became a junior researcher in the Department of Life Sciences, University of Limerick, Ireland. Upon returning to Spain in 2009, she joined the CNIO (National Cancer Research Center), where she worked in the Clinical Research department’s cancer stem cell and in the prostate cancer groups. In 2014 she joined the CIOCC (Centro Integral Oncológico Clara Campal) as Research and Project Manager.
Through her research, Mertxe has taken part in over 20 national and European research projects, collaborating with a wide variety of companies, institutions and researchers. Work resulting from her PhD and subsequent research has been published in leading international peer-reviewed journals. Mertxe brings to PlantResponse her experience in project and IP application, as well as her skills in research development and management at national and international level. She will strengthen the applicability of new projects and will also take charge of the intellectual property management of all present and future PRB™ products.
